Hello there!
Welcome to this little corner that is mine. The name is Shelvia and I am an avid photographer. Originally born and raised in Indonesia; I moved to the lovely city that is now my home, Melbourne, Australia in 2000.
My interest in camera developed since I was a child (couldn’t help it with my dad’s exemplary love of photography!). Admittedly, it started with the excitement of having my photos taken; but then I ran out of poses and got bored of smiling to the camera. One day, I turned the camera around to try being on the other side and it was love instantly.
With regards to equipments in the world of d-SLRs; I started with a Nikon D60 (a shiny upgrade from my compact Canon IXUS 7.0) armed with the 18-55mm Kit Lens. My loved ones then generously present me with “THE” lens, Nikon AF-S DX 35mm f1.8G, for my 26th birthday. Since then, I added Nikon AF-S VR Zoom-Nikkor 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G IF-ED to my lens collection. Later, the temptation to upgrade my camera body to a Nikon D90 became too much to resist. Absolutely no regrets!
For post processing, I mainly used Lightroom. Because I am far from an expert on that, I often visit Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Killer Tips or Victoria Bampton – Lightroom Queen for tips and tricks. If an image needed further enhancements, I revert to Photoshop. For collating or simple fun touch-ups, I recommend PhotoScape (Freeware!). For general photography tips and talk, I like The Photo Argus – A Photographer’s Resource and Digital Photography Tips: Digital Photography School.
The versatility of photography never ceased to amaze me. Combined with my love of food – it results in drool-worthy food images. Combined with my love of travelling – it results in beautiful landscape, street images. Combined with my love of people – it results in intimate engaging images. The fact that it shows me the same world in a different light again and again is simply cherry on top.
Anyways – thank you for visiting this humble corner of mine & please do say hi below or drop me an email. Your thoughts, suggestions, comments are much appreciated.

Hi Shelvia, thanks for your comment on my blog. Nice website and blog here too. Best of luck making it to NYC one day!
Thanks Cameron!
prime lens 35mm f1.8, thats awesome lens!!! ^^
tedi: it is superb… though every now and then i have my doubts n start wondering about whether i should have gotten 50mm f1.4
You got your self a great lens there. You chose the right lens. 50mm 1.4 on a dx camera is a little to long. 35mm 1.8 is fine on your camera and you will love it.
Thanks Nathan
It probably is the right one.. but would be interested to know what is 1.4 like.. I do love my 35mm 1.8 though
it’s a gun!
Hey Shelvia,
Thanks for commenting on my blog. It’s great to meet a fellow Indonesian who is also interested in photography (I was born in Bandung myself) though you’re way better than I am hahaha.
Thanks for those links – I’m always looking to improve my food (as well as other) photography so I’m sure these will come in handy
You’re very clever!
…the things you learn about people.
Hi Shelvia! Thank you for visiting my blogs. It’s really encouraging to see people trying out the recipes I love and loving them too!
I adore your landscape photos, by the way!
